Newsletter summer 2006
Hello and happy warm days! I am looking forward to reaching you with yet another update. I would love to go on and on about Max, now 3, and Evan, 8 months, because after all, they are my main focus lately. However, I have so much art news to share I can’t even entertain the thought of including anecdotes about children, animals, or any other thing that occupies so much of my time lately.

I am continuing to show my work at annual events: Immaculata Art Show in February; the Aiken Sporting Days Art show, also in February; Yellow Springs Art show in April; and The Terry Lindsey Gallery in Saratoga in August. In addition to these, I have added the Devon Horse Show Art Show in May. I am returning to Fair Hill International this year from October 16-20. It is also time again for my bi-annual open house, tentatively scheduled for the weekend of October 1st (You will receive an invitation for that one.). I have also been showing my work at a Gallery in Leasburg, VA called “All the King’s Horses,” that is owned by Monica Dibella. She has a wonderful selection of original art and horsey gifts. Many can be seen on her website, www.allkingshorses.com.
I am very excited to present some great new work this fall. Now that the days are warm, I am able to work on my porch on an eclectic array of furniture that I have been collecting throughout the winter. Some is old, some is recycled, and some is new. All will have original paintings and beautiful finishes. My Dad will supply me with original works depicting barns and landscapes in his ever expanding techniques and mediums. I will be happy to present my sister Amy’s beautiful jewelry again. This year, she plans to add a new “horsey” line. She is using my artwork in pendants that will be incorporated into her original designs. These necklaces will be truly one of a kind. Lastly, I am having a blast creating pen and ink cartoons that horse lovers and animal lovers will enjoy. The originals, prints, and note cards will be available.
This season also brings two new giclee prints. I wanted to build on my existing “Fox” giclee print. My pastel, “American Foxhound Trio,” is now available on German Etching paper, 14.5x18. “Masters of the Hounds” is on canvas, 14x17, reproduced from an original oil painting on board. Both are a limited edition of 100. Please visit my website to see them as well as my latest originals, www.sjrenzulli.com.
I hope you will be able to see the difference in my work that I do. I anticipated a plateau during this time of lean hours in the studio. But, I have been pleasantly surprised by the paintings that are evolving on my easels. Part of the success is due to the new surfaces that I am working on. Many of my oils are now on board. The surface lends itself to my painting style and the ease that it brings to the painting process shows in my work. For pastels, I am working on museum quality sanded paper. It allows me to use under painting, layers of pastels, wet techniques, and anything else I can dream up. I am also finding that my paintings of people are taking on the familiar control that my paintings of animals have had for some time. It is exciting to paint people with that same ease, confidence, and good result.
Thank you to all of you who have watched me grow, who have supported me with your encouragement or patronage, or who have just expressed your interest in my work. I am so fortunate to paint and create and I owe my career to those of you who appreciate it.
